Felder Seminar |
Join the staff of the Chicago School of Woodworking in using Felder equipment to construct a “plant stand”. This course is designed for new or prospective Felder/Hammer owners to get hands-on training using various Felder machines. The shop is equipped with two KF-700 Saw/Shaper combination machines, AD 741 and AD 731 Jointer/Planers, a D751 planer and an FD250 mortising machine. |
The objectives of the course are safety and general orientation on the use of Felder sliding table saws, shapers, and jointer/planers. To demonstrate the various features of our Felder equipment, we have selected and modified a “plant stand” for our class project. This plant stand consists of an octagonal frame table top with a plywood center, four upper rails, and four lower rails. The legs will also be octagonal. The seminar begins with the fundamentals of dimensioning wood. We’ll mill our stock four-square using an AD 741 and AD 731 to joint and plane, and the KF 700s to rip and crosscut our wood. Students will have the opportunity to use the EGL1350 to cut the angles for the frame top. The built-in angle stops and the scoring blade attachment will be used to cut plywood. Mortising will be done using the FD250. Tenoning will be done on the shaper. Students should register for the course via PayPal or over the phone with a credit card. Course materials will be provided by the school at cost. Give us a call if you have questions about the class, lodging or directions to the school at (773) 275-1170 or email us at info@chicagowoodworking.net |
